A dark morning.
Wet, thunder.
Swollen.
Pregnant with gray.
Walking.
A street lamp.
In the storm.
There’s a rabbit.
On the grassy hill.
Sitting still.
Alert.
Small and frail.
But its eyes are bright
And round
And even though
It is surrounded
In the darkness
And fog
And rain
It flicks an ear
Twice
Then turns and dashes
Across the grass, through
The turgid morning
And is gone
